GOLD DEMAND / RESEARCH BRIEF
What gold demand measures
Read bar and coin estimates separately from ETF, jewellery and official-sector demand.
Start with the category.
The World Gold Council estimates 268 tonnes of bar and coin investment in Q3 2026. The figure describes a global demand category over a quarter. It cannot establish dealer availability, premiums, or the movement in ETF holdings for that period.
Separate quantity from currency value.
A change in dollars can reflect both quantity and the price at which that quantity is valued. Always check which unit a headline uses and whether its time window is a quarter, a year-to-date figure or a full year.
Translate research into a quote check.
Use published research as context. To assess an actual purchase, obtain a timestamped written quote specifying exact product, fine weight, acquisition charges and the current buyback terms.
